What is nightcore?

Nightcore is a remix style that speeds up a track by roughly 20–40% and raises its pitch, giving vocals a brighter, energetic sound. It started in 2002 with two Norwegian students and exploded on YouTube and TikTok.

Unlike a plain speed change, nightcore keeps speed and pitch linked — exactly what this tool does by default. Want the speed without the chipmunk vocals? Turn off “Link pitch to speed” or try our Sped Up Audio tool.

Today nightcore is made by fans and producers alike: some channels post a new nightcore version of a chart hit every day, while others pair the sped up song with anime artwork. With this nightcore maker you can do the same in under a minute — no audio software, no plugins and no account.

Nightcore presets and what they do

Each preset is only a starting point. Pick the one closest to the sound you want, then nudge the sliders while the song plays.

PresetSpeedPitchBest for
Classic Nightcore1.25×+3 semitonesPop, EDM and most vocal songs
Hyper Nightcore1.40×+5 semitonesHigh-energy anime edits and gaming montages
Sped Up (TikTok)1.20×+2 semitonesA lighter edit that still sounds natural
8D Nightcore1.25×+3 semitonesHeadphone listening, with the 8D spin switched on

The speed slider runs from 1.00× to 1.60× and pitch from −2 to +8 semitones. Reverb adds space behind the vocals, and Bass boost (up to +12 dB) puts back the low end that speeding up tends to thin out.

Tips for a better nightcore edit

  • Start from a clean file. A 320 kbps MP3 or a WAV keeps cymbals and vocals crisp after the pitch goes up; a low-quality rip gets harsher.
  • Add 2–4 dB of bass. Raising the pitch moves the kick and bass up too, so a little boost keeps the track punchy.
  • Keep reverb low. Around 5–15% adds polish. More than that blurs fast vocals.
  • Use 1.40× sparingly. Very fast versions work for short clips but tire the ear over a full song.
  • Listen on headphones and a phone speaker. Most nightcore is heard on phones, so check that the vocal still cuts through.

Nightcore vs sped up: what is the difference?

Both make a song faster. Nightcore always raises the pitch with the speed, so vocals turn bright and youthful — it is a recognisable genre with its own fan base and YouTube channels. A sped up song is usually a gentler TikTok edit (around 1.10–1.25×), and many versions keep the original key so the singer still sounds like themselves.

If you want that second sound, use the Sped Up Audio tool and turn on “Keep original key”. To go the other way — slower, deeper and dreamier — try Slowed and Reverb.

What songs make the best nightcore?

Almost any song can become nightcore, but some turn out better than others:

  • Songs with a clear lead vocal. Pop, J-pop, K-pop and vocal EDM are the classic choices because the higher voice becomes the hook.
  • Medium tempo tracks. A song around 100–130 BPM lands at roughly 125–165 BPM after a 1.25× speed-up, right in the energetic nightcore zone. Songs that are already very fast can feel rushed.
  • Clean, modern mixes. Tracks with tight drums and little room echo stay punchy when sped up.

Heavy rock with distorted guitars and dense orchestral music can still work, but expect a busier sound. Make a short test with the preview first, then download the full nightcore version once you like it. To share it on YouTube or TikTok, turn the file into a video with the Audio Visualizer.

Why use this nightcore maker?

Most online nightcore makers upload your song, make you wait in a queue and then add a watermark or a time limit. This nightcore maker works differently:

  • Private by design. The nightcore effect is rendered inside your browser, so your music never leaves your device.
  • Real-time preview. Speed, pitch, reverb and bass change while the song plays, so you hear the nightcore version before you download it.
  • High-quality export. Download nightcore as MP3 at 320 kbps or 192 kbps, or as a lossless WAV.
  • Every nightcore control in one place. Presets, linked or independent pitch, bass boost, reverb and an 8D spin switch.

It also works on phones, so you can make nightcore on the go and post it straight to TikTok or Instagram.

FAQ

Nightcore Maker FAQ

Is Nightcore Maker really free?

Yes. Make as many nightcore songs as you like with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit. The song is processed in your browser, so it is never uploaded to a server.

What speed and pitch make a good nightcore?

Most nightcore sits between 1.20× and 1.40× speed with the pitch raised 2–5 semitones. Classic Nightcore (1.25×, +3 st) suits pop and EDM; Hyper Nightcore (1.40×, +5 st) is the high-energy anime-edit sound.

Can I make nightcore on my phone?

Yes. The tool works in current mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. Long songs take a little longer to render on older phones, so keep the screen on until the download starts.

Will the output quality drop?

You can export MP3 at 320 kbps or a lossless WAV, so the only quality trade-off is the one you choose. Very high pitch shifts can make vocals sound thin, which is part of the nightcore character rather than a quality loss.

Why does my nightcore song sound thin?

Raising the pitch moves the bass and kick drum up as well, so the low end gets lighter. Raise the Bass boost slider by 2–4 dB, or start from a song with a strong bass line.

How do I make 8D nightcore?

Pick the 8D Nightcore preset, or switch on “8D spin” with any setting. The song speeds up, pitches up and slowly circles around your head — use headphones to hear it.

Can I make nightcore without chipmunk vocals?

Yes. Turn off “Link pitch to speed”, then keep the pitch at 0 to +2 semitones while the speed goes up. For a pure tempo change, the Sped Up Audio tool keeps the original key in one click.

Can I upload my nightcore to YouTube?

The effect is yours to use, but the original song is still owned by its artist and label. Content ID may claim or block uploads of copyrighted songs, so use music you have rights to or check the platform’s rules.

Can I make a nightcore video?

Yes. Download your nightcore song, then open it in our Audio Visualizer to render an MP4 with animated bars, a waveform or a circle around your artwork.

Does the nightcore maker work with long songs?

Yes — any file up to 100 MB works, which covers most songs and long mixes. Longer files take a little more time to render, especially on phones.
