What is a sped up song?

Sped up songs are tracks played 10–30% faster, usually with a higher pitch. The style took over TikTok and Reels because faster versions fit short videos and feel more energetic.

Want the tempo boost without chipmunk vocals? Turn on “Keep original key” and only the speed changes. For the classic high-pitched sound, try our Nightcore Maker.

Speeding up a song changes how it feels as much as how long it lasts. A small lift of 5–10% makes a track feel brighter and more urgent; 20–30% turns a mid-tempo ballad into something you can dance to. Because this tool lets you choose whether the pitch follows the speed, you can make anything from a subtle sped up edit to a full high-pitched remix, or simply speed up audio such as podcasts and lectures to save time.

How much should you speed up a song?

Small changes go a long way. A useful rule: every 10% faster shortens a 3-minute song by about 16 seconds.

SpeedA 3:00 song becomesTypical use
1.10×2:44Subtle lift for playlists and workouts
1.20×2:30The classic TikTok sped up sound
1.25×2:24Energetic edits, often with the key kept
1.50×2:00Fast practice or listening to speech
2.00×1:30Double time — podcasts, lectures, previews

The speed slider goes from 1.00× up to 2.00× in 1% steps, and pitch can be set separately from −2 to +12 semitones.

Speed up a song with or without changing the pitch

There are two ways to speed up audio, and this tool does both:

  • Pitch rises with speed — like spinning a record faster. It sounds bright and youthful, which is the sound most sped up TikTok songs use. Turn “Keep original key” off and set the pitch you want.
  • Keep original key — the audio is time-stretched, so the tempo changes but every note stays in the same key. Use it when you want the song faster but the singer should still sound natural.

Keeping the key is also handy for non-music audio. Voice notes, audiobooks and lecture recordings sped up to 1.25–1.50× stay easy to understand.

What you can use a sped up song for

  • TikTok, Reels and Shorts — faster versions fit short clips and match quick cuts.
  • Dance and workout videos — raise the BPM to match your choreography or running pace.
  • Practice — musicians speed up a backing track once a passage feels comfortable.
  • Music videos — pair the result with the Audio Visualizer to post it as an MP4.

Speed up a song for personal use freely, but remember the original recording is still under copyright if you publish your edit.

Speed up audio on iPhone, Android or PC

You do not need an app. This tool runs in any modern browser, so the steps are the same on every device:

  1. Open this page in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
  2. Tap the upload area and choose a song from your Files app, downloads folder or desktop.
  3. Pick a preset or drag the speed slider, then preview the result.
  4. Download the sped up song as MP3 or WAV and use it in CapCut, TikTok, Instagram or your music player.

Everything is processed on your device, so nothing is uploaded and there is no waiting in a server queue. On older phones a long song can take a little longer to render — keep the screen on until the download starts.

Speed up audio that is not music

Sped up songs get the attention, but the same tool is just as useful for everyday audio. With “Keep original key” switched on, voices stay natural even at higher speeds:

AudioSuggested speedWhy
Podcasts and interviews1.25×–1.50×Listen to more episodes in the same time
Lectures and online classes1.25×–1.75×Review recordings quickly before an exam
Voice notes and voice memos1.50×Get through long messages faster
Audiobooks1.10×–1.40×A comfortable pace that stays easy to follow

Speed up audio files in MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC or Opus format up to 100 MB, then save the faster version as MP3 or WAV to play anywhere.

FAQ

Speed Up Audio FAQ

Is Speed Up Audio free?

Yes, completely. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how many songs you speed up, and your audio stays on your device the whole time.

Can I speed up a song without changing the pitch?

Yes. Turn on “Keep original key” (or pick the “Pitch kept” preset). The tool time-stretches the audio so the tempo changes while the key stays the same.

What speed do TikTok sped up songs use?

Most sped up edits run between 1.15× and 1.30×, often with the pitch raised one or two semitones. The TikTok Sped Up preset (1.20×, +2 st) is a good starting point.

Which formats can I download?

You can download MP3 at 320 kbps or 192 kbps, or a lossless WAV file. You can open MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG and M4A files up to 100 MB.

How do I speed up a song for TikTok?

Choose the TikTok Sped Up preset (1.20×, +2 semitones), preview it, then download the MP3 and add it to your clip in CapCut or another video editor before posting to TikTok.

What is the fastest speed I can set?

Up to 2.00×, which plays a song in half the time. Use the Double time preset for 2.00× with the original key kept.

Can I add bass boost or reverb to a sped up song?

Yes. The Reverb and Bass boost sliders work together with the speed, so you can add a little space and punch before you download.

Can I slow a song down here?

This tool only speeds audio up, from 1.00× to 2.00×. To slow a song down, use Slowed and Reverb, or the Pitch Shifter for a slower tempo in the same key.

Does speeding up audio reduce quality?

The speed change adds no compression of its own, though time-stretching can slightly soften fast transients. For the cleanest result, start from a high-quality file and save as WAV or MP3 320 kbps.

Can I speed up a song on my iPhone?

Yes. Open this page in Safari, choose a song from the Files app and download the sped up version — no app install needed.
